About Lilliputs Day Nursery

Our Philosophy

  • Every child is happy and stimulated.
  • Every child’s efforts are valued.
  • Every child has the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and understanding according to his or her abilities and regardless of their race, culture and gender.
  • Children learn to respect and look after each other.
  • Children feel confident to approach staff with queries.

To help you decide

On visiting the nursery the Manager will be happy to show you round and talk to you in detail about the care and facilities we provide.

  • All children are treated as individuals and encouraged to develop at their own pace. We are here to listen, support and advise you at any time.
  • We strictly ensure the equal treatment of all children regardless of gender, ability or ethnic origin. We also show respect for parents, carers, religious, political or personal beliefs.
  • Discipline is approached in a positive manner in conjunction with our Behaviour Management Policy as staff are strictly forbidden to smack or use any other hard procedure. We encourage and reward children to behave in an acceptable way and to love and care for each other.
  • Lilliputs provides complimentary settling in sessions. We encourage parents to visit the Nursery with their children before admission. This ensures a sense of security for the child but also enables parents to get to know the staff and other children and gives the opportunity for anxieties or concerns to be discussed. We want children to feel safe and happy in the absence of their parents.

Parents are advised to apply for a place for their child as early as possible, even before they are born. Places are often booked up to a year or more in advance. Making an appointment to visit will ensure that someone will be available and can spend some time with you. It is also a good idea to make a list of questions to ask the person showing you round so that you do not forget anything vital.

After applying for a place using our official application form, parents will be informed as soon as possible as to whether a place is available from the date required. If this is accepted, a deposit to the value of one week’s fees will be requested along with written acceptance of the place. The deposit will then be refunded when your child leaves the nursery. It may be necessary to place a child’s name on the waiting list should the place not be available from the date required.

Fees are payable weekly/monthly in advance, please enquire for current prices.

Minimum attendance is 2 days per week.

What people say about us

Lilliputs Nursery is good because:

  • Children gain an excellent understanding of the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle.
  • Children are thoroughly prepared, physically, socially and emotionally, for their next phase of learning at nursery or school.
  • The outdoor provision is excellent and, combined with the forest school experiences, children make very good progress.
  • The manager, owner and staff are highly reflective in their practice, which means they have a very strong capacity for improvement.

Ofsted - 2013

‘My Husband and I are extremely happy with Lilliputs Nursery. When you first take your child to nursery it is obviously quite daunting and you want them to be happy and well looked after. Lilliputs made this process a lot easier, they have good systems for introducing your child to the nursery and making them feel settled. Our daughter really looks forward to going to nursery and this makes mummy and daddy a lot happier! We have also been impressed with the well planned and thought out activities for the children - lots of these documented with pictures in her online account. We have also been impressed with the staff at Lilliputs- they all seem to enjoy their jobs which creates a really nice atmosphere. In particular for our daughter - Naomi and her team are great! we always gets a very warm welcome when we arrives in the morning. We also feel very confident that Gill and Louise manage the nursery so well and also find time to spend with the children.'

Mrs Fox - March 2016

Mrs Evans - July 2015

‘We are very happy with our child's progress at nursery, he is genuinely looked after and cared for. All the staff have been utterly professional whilst never once not being extremely approachable and friendly. Our child adores coming to nursery, your outdoor learning suits him and the atmosphere within Lilliputs allows him to explore being him. I have never felt less than happy leaving him in your care.’

Mrs Steele - July 2015

‘I feel that we could not have chosen a better nursery for our daughter, she has developed so much in the last 3 and a half years both educationally and in her confidence. Our daughter absoulutely loves nursery and really enjoys her time with her friends, she has built up a really fantastic bond with her key person. The staff are all fantastic and I feel confident leaving her here.’
